frequently asked questions

Who is behind onehitwonder?

onehitwonder is an initiative of four guys from Hobart, Tasmania in Australia. We are part of a small non-profit organisation called Third Place Communities (see ABN and company certificates on the site). Our names are Darryn Altclass, Mark Kuilenburg, Shaun Wilson and Tom Smith. Feel free to contact us.

How do I participate?

It’s easy, simply click on the pink Participate button and follow the prompts. Then tell everyone you know.

Are my credit card details safe?

Yes. All payments are processed by PayPal. For further information please visit their Security Centre.

Are my personal details safe?

Yes, for more information please see our Privacy Policy.

Can I give more than one dollar?

The aim of the project is to gather as many one dollar donations as possible, so every transaction is one Australian dollar plus 12 cents in handling fees. You can participate more than once by registering for a recurring hit OR you can become a patron or partner. Please see our partnership document for more information.

How will we give the money away, and who will receive it?

The money will be given through registered well–known organisations across the globe covering many regions and needs. Please see the list of some of these aid organisations.

Is all the money raised going to be given away?

Yes, all the money donated will be given away. The cost of the website and other promotions will be covered by us and our partners. On December 25, 2008 we’ll begin to give away every dollar, 90% to the poorest communities in developing countries, and 10%, plus interest will be utilised for community development in Australia.

Why is there a handling fee?

All online payment processing incur a handling fee. We’ve managed to keep this as low as $0.12 AUD for each transaction, and are currently working toward providing a cheaper process. After the $0.12 AUD handling fee is removed, we receive $1.00 AUD which goes directly into the onehitwonder account to be given away.

How do I pass it on?

Simple, just click on the blue pass it on button and choose your options.

How do I become a Partner?

For information in becoming a partner please see our Partnership Document (PDF).

How accurate is the dollar counter at the top of the page?

Roughly. The counter updates automatically, but we regularly reconcile it with the actual payment records to ensure accuracy. This means at times the counter may rise or fall suddenly, but not by much.

Who profits from apparel sales?

Any money made from the online store goes to onehitwonder running costs.
